Modelling vocabolary and inormation
Die cast model
- This is a model made by pouring a liquid mass in a form and let harden in that form.Cardboard modelling or engineering - This is a modelling process where paper cards are cut and glued together. The techiques has gained new popularity because designs with colors and patterns can now be downloaded from databases in the intrenet and printed onto the card before the pieces are cut and assambled.
Scale model
- A scale model is a model of anything (car, aircraft, boat, building, animal, landscape,, masjine, etc) that have the same proportions as the real life thing, but have every size scled down or up with some factor. Usually it is much smaller that the real life thingModelling clay - These are malleable materials of various viscosity. Some of these will harden through the contact with air or by warming and some will remaind malleable. Those remaining malleable after being used are susceptibole to temperature or mechanical impacts. Modelling clay are based on mineral clay, mineral salts, paper mass, oil, vaxes and or water.
Plasticin - This is a patented modelling clay with unknown exact composition, but key ingredients are calcium salts and peroleum gelly. It is non-hardening.
Plastilin, plastetline, plastilina, etc - These are trademark names for various non-hardening modelling clays baced on oily media.
